Last blog about the Pope. I promise.
As many of you know, we got a new Pope yesterday. And by we, I mean Catholics first and the rest of us are left to view it much like viewing the Royal family.
Pope Francis the First! And what a first. The dude may be 76 years old, but it looks like he could bring something new to the Cathilic Church.
For all the fun I made about it all, I have to say that the more I learn about this guy, the more impressed I am with him. Humble, sincere, hard-working, and dedicated to helping the poor above all else, he seems like the right man for the job of cleaning up a pretty dirty church.
They say he was runner up to Pope Benedict last time around, and I dare say, we should all regret that he was not the top pick 9 years ago.
He apparently told the others in the Conclave that he hoped God would have mercy on them for picking him. You could take it that he was saying it in jest. Or, as I hope, it was a warning to them that he was not going to be doing things in the same way they had grown accustomed to.
So, go get 'em Popey! It would be great to see the leader of the Catholic Church start rebuking the greed and corruption of the business and getting down to business by taking care of things that need to be attended to.
